Jack O'Halloran played a number of roles in movies over his 40-year career.  He played Non in Superman 2 which is one of my favorite movies.  I am glad to be working with Jack on marketing his book Family Legacy.  It is out in print and ebook.  I highly recommend his book if you like stories of organized crime and the ever mystery of the JFK assassination especially.  It brings new perspectives and thoughts to a variety of events.  However even if those subjects do not interest you, there is nothing like a well-written book that moves along.  

It is destined to be a movie someday.

Ernesto Tissot to narrate Southern Cross in Spanish

Producer working on my Vickie books has his show mentioned on Deadpool 2 movie

Watching Deadpool 2 and the main character makes reference to Sabrina the Teenage Witch TV show. Happens that the producer of that Sabrina show is writing a screenplay based on my Vickie books. I told him about the Deadpool mention of his show and he loved it.

I am so proud that my new venture producing book trailers for authors is taking shape.  I am providing simple to complex book trailers to help market books on www.bookteaser.net.  As an option to these trailers, I have gained some voice talent, that for a very reasonable fee will provide their amazing voice to narrate what the author wishes to say during the trailer.  Some of these guys are movie/TV actors and also some are Grammy award-winning singers.  Some can provide bilingual English/Spanish as well.  Some have done many audiobooks and even for me.  Thank you guys for lending your talent to authors.

The Lazarus Game TV Pitch

The Lazarus Game is a pitch screenplay written/produced by Barney Cohen.  Barney is known for the movie Guernica and Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter, TV shows Forever Knight, The Wonderful World of Disney, Forever Knight and a slew of others.  He is now working on The Lazarus Game which is taken from the Vickie series book Valkyrie.  Valkyrie is the second book in a series based on the main character Vickie.  She is a rape victim from her teens who is a powerful woman that seeks her brand of justice on things that are wrong or at least get in her way.  She is not politically correct and does not fear consequences.  She will bring people and things down she feels deserve it but also manages to redeem people.  An advertising executive by trade yet spends an enormous amount of time taking care of issues in life.  She has a destiny, one that will change the world.  The Lazarus Game is a corporate game that executives play on poor interns.  These interns are brought in to expose them to the corporate world and give them experience.  However, the game is a cruel game as they are played with by some executives and betted on.  The game itself is considered just a nuisance at first for Vickie till she sees the real damage it causes.  What she does not realize is her interference in this game brings the attention of a powerful wealthy woman named Violet.  We see her briefly in the book Valkyrie but the next book Violet is coming soon.  The screenplay being pitched focuses on The Lazarus Game which is a timely story and has significant value as a social message as well as entertainment. 

The goal is to make this one story into a TV movie which should lead to a TV series.  There is a good amount of momentum and interest building.  Known actresses are reading the books themselves to consider playing it.  I am personally excited about the prospect that my work would make it to the screen.  It is just a matter of the right person to step forward and coming on board with it.  There is already some heavy hitters on the Vickie team.  Just need to see it through and make it happen.

The Lazarus Game pitch development TV Show

It gives me a numb feeling to see a project in development based on my Vickie books.  How did it ever get here?  My books and synopsis being read by big-name actresses considering to play the book character Vickie, and studios inquiring about my books.  I know it is a long shot.  I am just thankful for producer Barney Cohen for his interest in pitching this, and actress Leni Rico for narrating my audiobooks that got it noticed.  Also thanks to Nicole Andani for cheer-leading and always believing in these books.  Not least my wife for investing her time and standing behind my books.  Also, my daughter that motivates me because she just published her third book. Sounds like an acceptance speech at an awards ceremony.  Well, it might be the only one I get to do.  But if it is, that is okay.  I am grateful to everyone that believes in my books and the readers that took the time to read them.

Where will the Vickie series go?

The showdown is coming between Vickie and Violet in the upcoming book Violet.  Violet is a powerful woman that comes from very old money and geo-political influence.  Her intelligence is only surpassed by her ruthlessness.  Vickie will interfere with her plans and will have to deal with Violet in all her power.  What will Vickie do?  If anyone can do it, Vickie can.

Currently the Vickie series of books are being read by some actresses to see if they are interested in playing Vickie.  Barney Cohen long time producer of Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Friday the 13th: Final Chapter, Gernika, Forever Knight and many others, is working on the screenplay for this book to be adapted for TV.  Actress Leni Rico has narrated the book Vickie into audiobook and now working on Vic/Tim.  Other people are involved to in helping bring about this project to TV.  I have even been queried by movie industry people about these books. 


It is most authors dream that their books make to the screen big or small.  While the odds are heavy against it happening and so much competition, we all struggle to make it happen.  So what does my Vickie books offer that could attract a network to make a series out of them?  I maybe be biased of course but I feel the story is timely, the characters are powerful, and these books generate strong emotions in people.  If I am wrong why are actresses and producers spending time on it?  I don't mean to sound arrogant as I am truly humbled it has got this far and astonished really.  I just hope the right person sees what I and others see in them and willing to make that jump to take it all the way home.

Where will it take me?

I never dreamed when I first wrote Vic/Tim as a short story that it would lead to a book, then a series, then an audiobook narrated by an actress, then a screenplay by a famous producer, and then being pitched as a TV series. Where will it end up finally? For someone like me, things like this do not happen to. I have no idea what the end result of Vickie's story will be but it is an amazing journey so far.

TV series or movie possibility so far.

My Vickie series books have been progressing on the TV movie/series front.  Longshot to be sure on these things but the interest seems to be growing.  So a longtime producer of TV and movies has written a short screenplay based on the scenario in the book Valkyrie.  So far some well-known actresses are reading my books considering playing the main character, Vickie.  An actress that narrated the book Vickie in Spanish audiobook is wanting to play the main character in my book Southern Cross, which she would be great for in my humble opinion.  A CEO of a movie production company has inquired about my books.  I wonder each day will it really happen that my Vickie books will be made into a TV series and Southern Cross into a movie?  The odds are so extreme like winning the lotto but with all this activity and interest all the sudden, the odds are getting better each week.  It may be just a matter of time when one of these big actors wants to play Vickie and everything explodes into action.  It could be wishful thinking.  But then again in 2005 when I first wrote Vic/Tim as a short story, I never thought it would go beyond that.

Southern Cross book is having a great response and I am deeply thankful for those that have read it so far.  The popularity of this book has even caused my Vickie books to jump in sales.  Southern Cross is a story about a Mexican boy named Miguel who lives in a small village.  He dreams of being an astronomer and his passion to learn about the stars causes him to discover a serious problem in the sky.  A problem he must convince everywhere around him exists.  His discovery will launch his people and Miguel into a big adventure and create opportunities.  Thank you to those that have seen the print books and said it was beautiful, eye-catching.  To those that asked if they are in the bookstores, not yet.  Hopefully, it will be discovered by them and stocked.  However, it is available in ebook, hardcover, and paperback currently.  Already being translated into Spanish, this book would make a good Disney style movie.

I want to thank all the goodread readers for signing up to win a free ecopy of Southern Cross.  There were 100 available and much more signed up for it.  Though only a 100 will receive a copy, I hope the rest will take the opportunity to read this book.  The print versions are very nice in paperback and hardcover.  They stand out and would make a good display in bookstores.  I have had both versions sitting on my desk at work and coworkers passing by pick them up immediately and ask about them.  It is already being translated in print into Spanish.  Hollywood producer already has it in his hands to consider it.  It is encouraging but my hope is the readers enjoy it.  I am deeply grateful for their attention. Southern Cross Hardcover Jacket finished

Finished the hardcover book jacket for my book Southern Cross.  This version has flaps on the end that fold inside the book marked by the blue/black ends.  About to release it in paperback/ebook on Amazon and hardcover in Ingram this all age appropriate book comes from a short story written many years ago.  It was one of the most popular short stories and readers begged me to make it into a novel.  Well the wait is almost over.  I am hoping people enjoy this story as much as I did writing it.

Southern Cross New Book out of editing!

My new standalone book Southern Cross is now out of editing!  It is polished and ready to be prepared for publishing.  However I am letting a literary agent have a crack at selling it to a mainstream publisher first.  Southern Cross is an all age appropriate story about a boy named Miguel that lives in a small Mexican village.  He discovers one night that the stars are wrong and now has to convince his village of it.  His discovery takes him on a big adventure.

Valkyrie released in Portuguese!

My book Valkyrie is finished in the Portuguese translation and now headed for publishing.  That completes the series so far in that language. Will be available in paperback and ebook soon.

Mike Sims' Vickie series of books being worked on as TV series.   Producer Barney Cohen on board to make TV series Actress Leni Rico has completed the project of narrating author, Mike Sims’ novel “Vickie” into the Spanish version audio book.  Ms. Rico was so enchanted by the novel and Vickie’s story that she introduced the novel and story to Hollywood producer Barney Cohen.
